Systematic Phonics Demystified

A complete framework for systematically planning and teaching synthetic phonics, recommended by the New Primary Framework and Letters & Sounds. Including a host of practical ideas encouraging children to blend, segment and use and apply their phonic knowledge and skills.

Jaz worked alongside Jim Rose assessing the phonics programmes and resources on the DCSF Standards website. We present an unbiased view on a variety of resources, with a guide to resources for older children. We also bring children's work and share our planning, assessment and record keeping with you. We start from where you are, whichever scheme you are using.

Teachers say....

" I have completely reset my expectations of the independent writing R/Y1 children can achieve when teaching is systematic and fun! Thank you so much

Advanced Code Spelling Choices - From Phonetic to Accurate Spelling

Moving on from one way of writing each sound to the alternative spellings of the Advanced Alphabetic Code, we present proven methods for teaching children which grapheme to use when they all sound the same!

Using an exciting, investigative approach (just like maths!), we demonstrate how to develop a working knowldege of the spelling patterns as an alternative to the weekly, no-stick spelling test!

Ideal for Schools with children blending and segmenting confidently using the Basic Code and wishing to extend synthetic phonics. This course fils the gap between children whose reading is better than their spelling.

Teachers say....

"Invaluable to a Y2/Y3 teacher like me! A way of teaching spellings that the children can remember and apply in their independent writing!"

Extending Independent Writing - Making Grammer FUN!

Everything you need to extend independent writing to Level 3...and beyond! Using Jolly Grammar as a starting point, we have devised a creative approach to introducing grammar and punctuation concepts. We show you how to get to grips with grammar and bring punctuation to life. Simple, straightforward and exciting planning.

Our framework lifts language off the page, enabling children to own the skills needed for developing their pwn writing through investigative art, drama and speaking and listening activities.

Teachers say....

"Grammar is actually FUN! There's a real passion in WHich Phonics training and being independent teachers and NOT company reps means you get an honest opinion."

Achieving Excellence in EA

Our emphasis is on creating an environment of trust and opportunity for children with EAL. Our training includes signs in other languages, phrases for teachers and familiar items to use in role play areas as well as a guide to the different grammar, phonemes and cultural reference points.

This course provides practical suggestions for dealing with the differing needs of children with EAL who enter Nursery and Reception compared to those wo enter in Year 1 and Year 2.

Teachers say....

" Tracy puts the children first. Before this training i saw EAL as an issie to be 'overcome'. My expectations are no longer limited and i am acutally excited about planning for children with EAL."
